How it started
Sebastian Röhl, a German computer science graduate, quit his corporate programming job to try indie development for 12 months but went back after weak results. He came up with HabitKit in summer 2022, built the MVP in Flutter in two months while sharing progress on social media. Building in public and App Store Optimization (ranking top 5 for 'habit tracker') drove growth to ~300K downloads; he quit his job again in early 2024.
