What we collect

Newsletter: your first name and email address, stored with our email provider Kit so we can send you updates. Every email has a link to unsubscribe.

AI Stack Builder: the project description you type. We store it to show your result and improve the service, and send it to Google Gemini to generate the recommendation. Please don't enter personal information.

Search: what you type in the search box is sent to our search provider Algolia to find matching tools.

Statistics: we count page views, searches and clicks on links to tools. These counts don't include your name, email or IP address.

Abuse protection: to prevent misuse of the AI Stack Builder, we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address that can't be turned back into the original.

Cookies and local storage

We only use what the site needs to work: your language and theme choice, a random ID for the AI Stack Builder, and a sign-in session for administrators. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there's no cookie banner.

Affiliate links

Some links to tools are affiliate links. When you click one, you leave techstapel and the tool or its partner programme may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

Who processes your data

We use trusted providers to run the site: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Kit (newsletter), Algolia (search) and Google (AI). Some of them process data outside the European Union, with the safeguards the GDPR requires.

How long we keep your data

Newsletter details until you unsubscribe. Stack builder requests and statistics for as long as we need them to run and improve the service. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
