How it started
Joe Rozek, a software engineer turned manager at Shutterfly, wanted a side project to learn iOS. In 2017 a restaurant waitlist text forced him to download Yelp just to see his wait time, and his wife suggested he build a waitlist app. He launched after ~1.5 years, added in-app purchases two years in, and grew mainly via Apple Search Ads plus email nurturing, reaching over $40K/month on a flat $100/month price.
